2013 Halloween Summary

This year, I just didn't feel like putting out my Halloween decorations, but my niece and nephew was begging me to put them out.  I took the little bit of energy I had and put out all of the decorations.  I only had enough energy to work on two new projects, which was my new jester and modifying my above ground grave by adding a gargoyle head to the front of it which I used to shoot my fog machine out of it's mouth.

 
 

 
 



2012 Halloween Summary

This year I had the whole yard decorated and 5 days before Halloween I had to tear it down due to a nearby hurricane.  It’s a good thing I didn’t leave anything out because the winds were pretty strong and one of my friends left out her decorates and some of them blew away. 

On Halloween, I came home early and set up some very limited Halloween decorations for the kids, so they would not be totally disappointed.  I did have a lot of returning trick-n-treaters say my yard was just not the same this year without the graveyard.  It’s good to know people appreciate and like your decorations.

 

 

2010 Halloween Summary

Halloween is over and I was able to tear down almost the whole yard in about 1.5 hours and it took me several weekends to set everything up. Everybody loved my new Saw character shown below. However, this year the teenagers pissed me off because they were jumping over the fence and climbing over my lights in my yards so they could take pictures with my dummies. Next year, I 'm going to have to build a Halloween fence to make it harder for them to get into my yard. I don't understand why teenagers can not respect other people's things. Next year I'm going to have to fix the Saw dummy because someone leaned on his head and he was falling apart when I was putting him away.

2009 Halloween Summary

This year I added lights to my house and yard and had them timed to music, the kids just loved it. I redid all of my gravestones; carved all of the epitaphs by hand using a hot knife and then I created a base for each of the gravestones. I built a crypt out of 2"x2" and insulation foam board. It took a few months to finish this project, so if you are planning on making one of these, make sure you plan enough time because it toke a few months to complete (instructions are in my 10/4/2009 blog). I created a lamppost out of an old fan base and a black pumpkin from Wal-mart. Now I just need to figure out a way to keep it from not falling over every time there is strong wind. I also created a Beatlejuice character a few days before Halloween, but I didn't have time to finish making his hands, so that will be a project for next year.

My house is becoming more popular every year. The only problem is within the next two years, I'm planning on moving, so they will have to travel to see my Halloween Display.

2008 Halloween Summary

The inflatable haunted house that I got on discount after Halloween 2007 was added to the yard this year. The kids were afraid to walk thru it. The neighborhood kids wanted me to constantly blow it up so they could play in it during the day. Luckily I only put the haunted house up a few days before Halloween, so I made sure it was deflated during the day so that the neighborhood kids would stay out of the yard. I also created a new Jason dummy and put it at the end of the haunted house. The kids would walk out of the haunted house and would scream because Jason was standing there with a machete waiting to greet them.

2007 Halloween Summary

I'm becoming more popular with the kids each year. I just purchased an inflatable halloween haunted house for the kids for next year. I'm sure it will be a hit.

2006 Halloween Summary

Well Gemmy came out with an awesome archway that I had to add to my collection. The grim ripper archway scared most of the kids and they were afraid to come in the yard. We had our pine tree cut down in the front yard so it made a great open grave.

The witch was also a new addition. I will need to reinforce the witch for next year because the 1 1/2 PVC pipe is not strong enough to hold the weight of the flying witch.

2005 Halloween Summary

Everybody loved the grim ripper. I add a fan under his mask so he could turn his head back and forth. The gate keeper holding the latern was also loved by all trick or treaters.

I was disappointed with the ground breaker that I bought from Spencers Gift that pulls his head off (last photo on this page). The only way to get him to pull his head off is to clap your hands really loud behind the ground breakers body. I will need to find a better way to set off this ground breaker next year.

2004 Halloween Summary

2004 was the first time I totally went all out for Halloween and boy did I spend a lot of money. The kids loved the talking boris head that I had on my grim reaper. I had it telling ghost stories that I bought on a CD from Walmart. The kids also loved all of the ground breakers I made out of PVC pipes.
